The spam filter caught it. That is the detail everyone repeats, and it is the least interesting thing about this one.
On 3 March 2011 two small groups of employees at EMC, RSA's parent company, were sent an email with the subject 2011 Recruitment Plan. The body was a single sentence: I forward this file to you for review. Attached was a spreadsheet named 2011 Recruitment plan.xls.
It landed in junk. Someone went and retrieved it, which is what you do with a recruitment plan that has been filed in the wrong place.
Inside the spreadsheet was an embedded Adobe Flash object exploiting CVE-2011-0609, a zero-day on the day it arrived. It installed a remote access tool, and from that one workstation the intruders worked inward toward the SecurID business.
In May, Lockheed Martin found an intrusion on its own network. It was detected on 21 May, Lockheed issued replacement tokens, and all 133,000 employees were made to reset their passwords. RSA subsequently confirmed that information taken from it had been used in that attack.
Here is the part that gets skipped. A SecurID token is not a puzzle waiting to be solved. It runs a published algorithm over a secret seed loaded at the factory and produces exactly the number it is meant to produce. Everything rests on the seed staying secret — and a copy of every seed sat with the manufacturer, because the manufacturer needed it for the system to work at all.
EMC took a $66.3 million charge against second-quarter earnings for the response: investigation, hardening, transaction monitoring for worried customers, and replacement tokens for the roughly one-third who were using SecurID to protect corporate networks and intellectual property rather than consumer banking.
Nobody broke the token. It did precisely what it was built to do, for whoever was holding the list.

Printing, size and care
Printing, size and care
Every exhibit is printed to order, direct to garment, by Monster Digital in Miami, Florida. The ink goes into the cotton rather than sitting on top of it, so there is no plastic feel and nothing to crack or peel. It fades the way a good print should: slowly, evenly, over years of washing.
The tee is a Gildan 64000 Softstyle. 100% ring-spun cotton on the solid colours; heathers and Sport Grey are cotton-poly blends. 4.5 oz, tape-reinforced shoulders, no side seams. Unisex, S to 3XL. The artwork is printed on the front, centred on the chest, about 8.5 inches wide by 12 inches tall.
The hoodie is a Gildan 18500 Heavy Blend. 50/50 cotton-poly, 8 oz, double-lined hood, front pouch pocket. Unisex, S to 5XL. The artwork is printed large on the back, about 9 inches wide by 12.5 inches tall, set below the hood so nothing hides under it. The UNHACKED emblem sits on the left chest at about 3.75 inches.
Care. Machine wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang. No bleach. Do not iron over the print. That is the whole list.
