It got a number on 31 May: CVE-2023-34362.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe webshell they dropped was named human2.aspx. MOVEit ships a legitimate page called human.aspx. Somebody picked that name so an administrator scrolling a directory listing would read straight past it, and for a while that worked.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNothing was encrypted. Cl0p took the files and left, then published victim names on a leak site at a deliberate drip that kept the story running well into 2024.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe running tally kept by Emsisoft passed 2,700 organizations and more than 90 million individuals, which makes it the largest breach of its kind by count of people rather than by count of records.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThat number has almost nothing to do with how many companies ran MOVEit, and everything to do with which ones did: payroll bureaux, pension administrators, benefits processors, student record clearinghouses. Zellis ran it, and Zellis did payroll for the BBC, British Airways and Boots. One appliance, three household names, and not one of those three ever made a decision about MOVEit.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eProgress patched on 31 May. Two more MOVEit vulnerabilities followed within weeks, which is what tends to happen the first time a product is genuinely looked at.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThere is no
